What it is

One simple sock. Two jobs it does brilliantly.

Cold air creeping under the back door in January. Rainwater pooling on the step and running into the hallway in October. Most people buy two different products to deal with those. You don't need to.

Laid along the base of a door, this 1.2 metre snake seals the gap and stops the draught. Caught in a downpour, the same snake drinks up at least 3.5 litres of water — and holds onto it. Lift it away when the weather passes and it won't drip across your floor.

Why it earns its place by the door

  • Soaks up 3.5+ litres — enough to hold back a genuine flood at a doorway, not just a puddle.
  • Lifts out without dripping — no bucket, no trail of water down the hall.
  • Dries out and goes again — leave it somewhere warm and airy, fully or partly, and reuse it many times over. This isn't a throwaway sandbag.
  • Won't burst underfoot — tough enough to be stood on, walked over and shoved back into place.
  • Bends where you need it to — flexible enough to follow a threshold, curve round a door frame or sit snug along a window sill.
  • Plain grey, so it disappears — no logos, no loud colours. It sits against a threshold and nobody notices it's there.

Where people use them

  • External doors — front, back, patio, French doors
  • Garage and shed thresholds
  • Window sills and low-level vents
  • Conservatory doors and porches
  • Caravans, motorhomes and static vans
  • Under washing machines, dishwashers and boilers as a leak catcher

Getting the best from it

For draught exclusion, simply lay it tight against the foot of the door. For water, position it across the threshold before the rain arrives if you can — it works hardest when it meets the water first. Once saturated, lift it out, stand or hang it somewhere with air movement and let it dry. Then put it back and forget about it until the next time.

Keep one by the door you worry about. It costs less than a callout and it's there the moment you need it.
